The Future of The Music Industry

Project Music Vertical

Project Music is the Nashville Entrepreneur Center’s leading action to support innovation within the music industry, a core business vertical in Nashville's economy.   Our efforts including access to the Preflight pre-accelerator program to the MusicPreneur education series to the Project Music Accelerator are in place to provide year round support for music-minded entrepreneurs who are building music-driven startups.

We recognize that music centric startups have unique need, therefore we're bringing music, tech and business leaders together to nurture startups desiring to grow music industry revenue.

The focus is built on four tentpole areas of influence that include an annual 3+ month-long accelerator program:

Pre-Flight (EC):
A four month pre-accelerator program at the EC where you learn the tools to make your ideas take off!    Pre-Flight is open to startups from any industry; however, the Nashville Entrepreneur Center is able to make additional learning opportunities available during the January - April 2016 PreFlight Session for music-centric startups.   Music centric startups registered for this session of PreFlight will have the opportunity to attend two industry curriculum Project Music Accelerator sessions (sessions will be determined by the program's Industry Lead.)

Next session runs:   January 25, 2016 - April 25, 2016 // Details and registration info here.

A high intensity bootcamp working at the Nashville Entrepreneur Center for three months where your idea is infused with education, mentoring, practical application, workspace, speakers, pitches and special events related to traditional accelerator curriculum and immersion in the music industry.   A typical week has 3 days of education and 2 work days on location at the EC.

Next program starts:   January 31, 2016.  Applications have closed.

Project Music provides guidance from some the most knowledgeable music industry executives in town through the EC's mentor program.  Additionally the EC program surrounds entrepreneurs with an army of business, startup and tech mentors in these areas:

  • Startup Operators – Serial entrepreneurs with experience in multiple startups.
  • Industry Experts – Individuals with a wealth of industry-specific experience.
  • Service Providers – Mentors with experience in a specific range of business skills (Legal, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, IT, Infrastructure, Operations, etc…)
  • Launch Experts – Mentors with experience investing funds in and/or raising funds for startup companies.

During the Accelerator program, this mentor pool is tapped to build the most powerful and insightful advisory boards possible within the music industry.

Project Music provides the mentors and education to help you approach potential investors.   Acceptance into the Project Music Accelerator earns access to seed funding in exchange for equity along with the introduction to potential investors via mentoring and pitch days.

Project Music strives to build additional programs tied to the community supporting the growth of  entrepreneurship in music and music tech.  More details forthcoming as we make these connections and build for the future.
